What do I need to get Gigabit broadband?

It's easy!
To sign up for Vodafone broadband, you just need:

  1. To request that one of our agents check the eligibility at your address. The rollout of our Gigabit Broadband network means that more and more locations will have the service over time so keep checking on its availability in your location or preregister your interest here to receive updates. 
  2. Once this is confirmed we will arrange an engineer to call to your home to set up your new Gigabit broadband service.

How long does it take to set up Gigabit broadband?

Once we can confirm your address is eligible for Gigabit broadband we will schedule a time that will suit you for an engineer to call to your home to install the service. The engineer will connect your modem and your WiFi devices so you can start to enjoy your Gigabit Broadband straight away after the appointment.

Will an engineer call to my house to install the modem if I get Gigabit Broadband?

Yes an engineer will visit your home to deliver the connection directly to your home. This means you’ll get your own fibre connection directly into your home or business so you won’t have to share one with the rest of your area.

What times are available for Fibre installation appointments?

Appointments are available from Monday to Friday. You can choose from one of two slots: either 8am- 1.00pm or 1.00pm - 6pm. You will receive confirmation of this date and time via email and SMS after you sign up.

What if I need to reschedule my installation appointment for Gigabit Broadband?

If you want to re-schedule your appointment then visit or call us on 1907. Please call before 4pm on the day before your appointment in order to successfully re-schedule.

Why can’t I use my monitored alarm with Gigabit Broadband?

With Gigabit Broadband, voice calls using your home phone will be made using Broadband Voice. This means services such as monitored alarms that require a PSTN line will not be supported. Please check with your service provider to understand if this is required.

Will I get a new landline number when I switch to Vodafone Gigabit Broadband?

If you are switching from another service provider (e.g Eir) and staying in the same property then you can keep your existing telephone number.

If you are switching to Vodafone as part of a house/property relocation then you may get a new phone number if you move into a different phone code area. Your telephone number is allocated to a defined geographic area called a Minimum Numbering Area (MNA). Your MNA is part of a wider STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialling) area which has a defined dialling code.

Do I need a new modem with Vodafone Gigabit Broadband?

Yes, only the modem supplied as part of your order will work on the Vodafone Gigabit Broadband service. Any older Vodafone modem supplied for a standard broadband service will not work on Gigabit broadband. If you are upgrading from standard broadband (with Vodafone or any other provider) to Gigabit broadband then you will need a new modem. With all packages the modem and installation fee are free of charge.

I heard Gigabit broadband is fast but how does it work?

Gigabit Broadband is a brand new broadband delivery technology. It is the first of its kind in Ireland. The service is delivered by a brand new 100% fibre optic network and powered by light delivering speeds up to 1000Mbps.

The fibre optic network provides a far superior service without the challenges of older copper services. This means a more reliable broadband service that the whole household can use without any worries of congestion on multiple devices simultaneously.
