I need to get my phone repaired. What should I do?

Smartphone

If your phone is still under warranty, Fónfix will repair it and return it to you, both free of charge. Currently most manufacturers give a 24 month warranty.

Before you send it for repair

  1. Backup your smartphone’s content and contacts to your computer. Find out how here and search for your handset. You can also backup your contacts using the Backup+ app. 
  2. Please remove any memory cards from the handset.
  3. If the repair is related to a charging or battery issue please send the charger along with the handset.

iPhone

Follow these steps to disable the "Find My iPhone" function on iOS 7 devices:Apple have introduced a new process for iPhones requiring repair. Please be advised this is under a 12 month warranty and if you have a fault with your iPhone device you must ensure that the “Find My Phone” option is disabled before returning it to Vodafone. Failure to do so will result in your phone being returned unrepaired.

Option 1: Turn off “Find My iPhone” (where your iPhone can be powered on)

  • Go to Settings > iCloud
  • Turn off “Find My iPhone”

Option 2: Remove your iPhone from your account at iCloud.com (if you iPhone cannot be powered on)

  • Sign in to your account with your Apple ID
  • Select the iPhone that needs to be removed from the account
  • If the iPhone is offline, click Remove from Account
  • If the iPhone is online, click Erase. When the erase is complete, click Remove from Account

Please note that your Apple ID password will be required with each option.

Feature Phone

Before you send it for repairIf your phone is still under warranty, Fónfix will repair it and return it to you, both free of charge. Currently most manufacturers give a 24 month warranty but a 12 month warranty period applies to iPhones only.

  1. You should backup your content (Pictures, ringtones etc.) onto a memory card and backup your contacts onto your sim card.  Find out how at http://deviceguides.vodafone.ie/web/ and search for your handset.
  2. If the repair is related to a charging or battery issue please send the charger along with the handset.

Getting your phone fixed

If you are still experiencing problems with your mobile phone, we recommend you return it as soon as possible to the agent where you bought it for further advice.

Alternatively, you can send your mobile phone for repair directly to the Mobile Phone Repair Company at:

My phone isn't working. What should I do?

Smartphone

If you're having trouble with your smart phone there are a few things you can try before sending it for repair.

  1. Switch off your mobile and then switch it back on again.
  2. If you're Pay as you go, check that you have enough credit by typing *174# into your mobile to display your balance on the screen or log on My Vodafone
  3. Restart your phone – usually possible by holding down the power button for a few seconds for an options window to pop up, and then select Restart rather than Shut Down (For Apple iPhones, hold the lock and home button together until the Apple logo appears).
  4. Try updating the handset software, a step-by-step guide can be found here. Choose your handset model and search for ‘Software update’.
  5. Remove the SIM card from the back of your mobile and wipe the metal side with a clean cloth put it into another Vodafone mobile and then try to use the same service if the SIM card does work in the other mobile then your mobile may need to be repaired. You can take it back to the Agent where you bought it for repair, or you can send it directly to the Mobile Phone Repair Company.

My phone was lost or stolen, what do I do?

Contact Us Immediately

You should contact us as soon as possible so that we can prevent anyone from making or receiving calls on your phone. This will help to prevent any charges on your account.

  • Bill pay: ring 1907 (from any bill pay or landline phone)
  • Pay as you go: ring 1747 from a mobile or 1850 20 40 20 from a landline
  • Business: ring 1907 or contact your account manager for further assistance

Report the Theft to the Gardai

Recently changed phones?

If you have recently updated your phone, then you also need to update your insurance. (This is done automatically for you if you upgrade.) To check if your insurance covers your new phone view the phone details section in My Vodafone.

How do I make a claim on my phone insurance?

Step 1: Confirm that you are insured with Vodafone for the mobile you're claiming for. View your bill on My Vodafone and check that Stay Mobile Insurance is included on it.

Step 2: Make your claim by phone: Just call 1850 92 77 11 and have your mobile number at the ready.

How long will my repair take?

Repairs can take up to 5 business days but in the meantime you can check the status of your repair.

When you send your phone to be repaired at Fonfix you will be able to track your repair online. All you have to do is enter your IMEI number and you will see a report on the progress to date.

How do I track my phone repair?

Tracking your repair is really easy. Just follow these simple steps:

Find your IMEI number

You need this number in order to track your repair online. You will find your IMEI number on the repair docket you received when you left your phone in for repair.

Go to Fonfix website and enter IMEI

Go to Fónfix's website (this link will open a new window on your browser). Type in your IMEI number and click “Check Status”. If your repair has been logged, details of your repair will appear on screen.
