Agent Premium SMS FAQs

Where can you see if a customer has a Premium SMS bar active?
A customers Premium SMS bar can be viewed in UFE under Manage Components > Control > Premium Text Bar Opt In

Will the customer receive a text notification to verify the bar is in place?

No, the customer will not receive a text notification to confirm this however if they send a text to a Premium number they will receve an error message: 

Your account is currently barred from sending or receiving premium rate messages from 5XXXX. For more information on this bar and to remove it please select the following

Can a customer still OPt in/Out via the Portal?

No, the customer will need to contact us on 1907 or call in store to opt in/out of the service

What is Webtext

Webtext is a free service, which allows all Vodafone customers to send 600 free text messages a month to Irish mobile numbers and International numbers too*. You can even send up to up to five phones simultaneously, with the added option of scheduling your message over the next 7 days. You can send a webtext up to 459 characters long (3 SMS).

The recipient will receive the message in seperate parts. A webtext which is 3 SMS long will deduct 3 Webtexts from your monthly allocation and 2 will deduct 2 Webtexts (When sending between 161-306 characters two monthly Webtexts will be used. When sending between 307-459 characters three monthly Webtexts will be used).

You can use up to 50 WebTexts from your mCare app each monthAll of these WebTexts can be sent to international numbersIf you wish to send more than 50 WebTexts FREE, you can still do so from your My Vodafone account on where you can send up to 600 free text messages!


How to use Webtext

Once the customer has registered for MyVodafone and logged in, they will see a link for Webtext on the MyVodafone homepage page. They can simply click on this link to begin their message.

Bulk text Information

Vodafone's Bulk Texts is an online tool which allows a business to send one or thousands of text messages to their Customers or employees at the touch of a button

There is no need for any additional hardware as this is a pre-paid online service. 

Note: Customers cannot transfer credit from their mobile numbers on to the Bulk Text service

With Vodafone Bulk Texts you can:

Send to one or one hundred thousand (via excel) on-line

Get delivery receipt showing which SMS texts have been received

Allow sender ID or company name in the text

Allow a reply path - see live responses on your desk top

'Send now' or 'Send later' outbound broadcasts by time and date in excel

International sending*

Send up to 459 character long messages (3 in 1 message – standard is 150)

Can integrate API's with existing Customer database -this means Corporate Customers can send texts from their CRM systems by connecting the CRM to the Bulk Text Portal via a API program available from Vodafone is document format.

Please note: you are charged per SMS sent to each recipient (e.g. if you send an SMS to 200 contacts, you have sent 200 sms, and your credits will be reduced accordingly)


*Pricing for International sending will vary and will use more than one bulk text credit. The Bulk Texts service target market is Vodafone business customers however it is available to all Vodafone and non vodafone customers


How to use Bulk text

You can choose to send one text or many by uploading a list (excel spread sheet) from your desk top/PC. You have the options of ticking the boxes as required and then when completed press send.

When you press the send button a dialogue box will appear with a summary how many texts will be sent and if there are any errors. Once you press press confirm the SMS will be forwarded to the Vodafone SMS gateway to be sent.

If there are any errors the system will not forward the SMS. Typical errors: Too many characters per row in Column A. This must be a telephone number in a recognised format: 0035387123456 or 0871234567

Too many characters in column B. Maximum 160 characters to include spaces.

The wrong time and date format in Column C.

The customer must use the recognised Excel format eg: 20.00; 01012010


To print a VAT receipt stating which Bulk Text bundles you have purchased, do the following:

  • Login
  • Go to My Account
  • Go to Top Up history
  • Click the print icon beside the relevant top up

Note: Customers cannot transfer credit from their mobile numbers on to the Bulk Text service

There are now two payment options for Vodafone customers:

Prepay – Credit Card Option

Bundle Option - Bulk Text bundle purchased and bill code applied to customer's account


Prepay – Credit Card Option

There are no bills, contracts or account fees: simply prepay for what you need using your Credit or Debit card. 

Cost = 5c (ex VAT) per SMS

Minimum purchase is 500 texts (€30 ex VAT)

500 Credits (Texts) - €30 ex VAT 

1000 Credits (Texts) - €60 ex VAT 

3000 Credits (Texts) - €180 ex VAT 

5000 Credits (Texts) - €300 ex VAT

All accounts are set up as Prepay as default. If you have a pre-paid account you will need to add credit to your account to send messages. 

To top up your pre-paid account, click on Top up my account under the My Account menu. 


Bundle Option:

This option is available for existing Vodafone customer only. There are four bulk text bundles available and the bigger the bundle, the cheaper the rate per message. 

Note: These addons are not automatically recurring; the customer will need to purchase the addon each time they require it

5,000 credits (€225 ex VAT) = 4.5c per SMS

10,000 credits (€400 exVAT) = 4c per SMS

50,000 credits (€1750 exVAT) = 3.5c per SMS

100,000 credits (€3200 exVAT) = 3c per SMS


Bulk text issues

Advise the customer they must submit their email query via the online 'Contact us' option on the Bulk Text tool home page, or by sending an email to, including their Bulk Text username (email address that the account was set up)

To submit the query, the customer will need to do the following;

Log into the Bult text message tool 

Click on Contact us> Send us an email

Enter your name, email address, nature of your query and your message and click 'Send'

You will receive a response in 24hrs

Alternatively, as mentioned above, you can submit your query by sending an email to, including your Bulk Text username (email address that the account was set up)
