I want to buy a new phone for a family member who doesn’t have a mobile phone number, which option do I choose?

First, on the phone information page, select your plan. You’ll then be able to choose the “Get a new phone number” option in the basket.

I want to buy a new phone for a family member who has a mobile phone number, what do I need to do?

Current Vodafone PAYG customers:

  • If the phone is a surprise gift for a recipient who is a Vodafone customer, choose “Get a new phone number” option in the basket. You should hold onto the new SIM card as should they need a new size SIM card, our customer care can assist moving the existing Vodafone number onto the new SIM card. You can contact customer care via LiveChat, Twitter or Facebook.
  • If the recipient is aware of the purchase and is a Vodafone customer, the owner will need to log into their MyVodafone account to complete the purchase.   

New Vodafone PAYG customers:

  • If the phone is a surprise gift and the recipient is a Vodafone customer, it is best to choose “Get a new phone number” option in the basket. They can change their phone number to Vodafone at a later time by switching online or in store.
  • If the person you’re buying the phone for is aware of the purchase and a new Vodafone customer, you should select the “Keep my number” option in the basket and the owner will need to give their approval of moving their phone number to Vodafone by providing a verification code sent via SMS during the checkout process.

Yes. Whether you are with Vodafone already or switching from another provider, you can keep your current number.

When can I expect delivery of a new phone?

Your phone will be delivered by An Post within 5 days of the order being placed.

What happens if my number doesn’t switch to Vodafone?

Sometimes there can be issues which cause your phone number to stay on your current network and not switch to Vodafone. This might be because you entered incorrect details, or your current network hasn’t released your phone number to us. If this happens, we will attempt to phone you within 2 working days. If you miss our call, you will receive a text message with a phone number you can call that will direct you to the correct team.
