Vodafone Ireland achieves Business Working Responsibly Mark
25 October 2016
Vodafone Ireland has achieved the Business Working Responsibly Mark certification for responsible and sustainable business practices. The Mark was awarded by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) at a ceremony held at Dublin Castle. Vodafone was one of 14 companies who achieved the Mark in 2016 and one of 23 companies In Ireland who now hold it.
Anne O'Leary, CEO Vodafone Ireland said:"We are delighted at Vodafone Ireland to have today achieved the Business Working Responsibly Mark. At Vodafone Ireland we pride ourselves on our company- wide approach to responsible and sustainable business practices. The Mark represents how we treat our customers, employees, our suppliers, our communities and the environment. Increasingly customers want to know they are engaging with a responsible organisation and employees are telling us they want to work for a values-driven organisation. Strong community engagement is also vitally important to the way we work at Vodafone.
"Our strategy is founded on Vodafone’s commitment to responsible behaviour in everything we do. At the centre of our global sustainable business strategy is our focus on delivering meaningful socio economic benefits for our customers and wider society.
"In Ireland, Vodafone continues to pioneer a gigabit society by focusing on investing and empowering local communities through connected technologies. The goal is to deliver gigabit connectivity for all citizens equally regardless of geographical location. The economic and social benefits that gigabit connectivity can bring, particularly to those living in rural areas are immense.
"Enhanced connectivity will create new job and business opportunities, which in turn will allow people to remain in their own local areas instead of commuting to larger urban centres. The gigabit society will offer employees a better work life balance, cut carbon emissions and enable sustainable communities across the country.
"We are also very proud of our partnership with ISPCC and in 2016 we launched our commitment to working with Childline for the next five years through our Vodafone Foundation.
"Receiving the Business Working Responsibly Mark, is another step on our business journey to sustainability and we look forward to a continued focus on this in the weeks, months and years ahead."
