Vodafone Ireland today published its financial performance figures for the fourth quarter ended 31st March 2015. The Company had a total Irish customer base of 2.3 million at the year ended March 31st 2015, of which 2 million were mobile customers. Its fixed-line voice and broadband customer base grew by 25,700 (+10%) year-on-year to 282,300.
Revenues for the year under review were €935.8 million, down 2.6% year-on-year due to a reduction in inter-operator revenues and continued competition in the pay as you go market, partially offset by an increase in contract subscriptions of 4.7% year-on-year and lower levels of churn. During the period the Company's enterprise revenues grew by 4.0%, underpinned by securing new contracts with a number of large companies including Ryanair. Vodafone is now supporting the airline's communications and IT needs across Europe.
Vodafone Ireland customers with smartphones increased by 127,800 year-on-year to 1.3 million. Combined with the Company's nationwide investment in its 3G, 4G and 4G+ networks and the introduction of larger data offers, mobile data usage increased by 77% during the period. In relation to its non-mobile capabilities, it continued to invest strongly in enterprise fixed data and converged communications services. It also progressed its €450m Fibre-to-the-Home joint venture initiative with the ESB, "SIRO", which is bringing high speed broadband to 50 towns across Ireland.
Commenting, Vodafone Ireland CEO Anne O'Leary said: "In a highly competitive market, our performance demonstrates a continued improvement in trends during the year proving the effectiveness of our strategy which is to become the total communications provider of choice in the Irish market. As part of that strategy, we have seen growth in our enterprise revenues and continued migration in our customer base from pay-as-you-go to contract subscriptions thus delivering value added services to our customers."
