Can I use my phone at sea and in flight?
While we cannot guarantee coverage when you're travelling at sea, customers may be able to pick up some maritime service providers. Some airlines now allow passengers to use their mobiles during flights.
When available
- Making and receiving a call will cost €2.99 per minute.
- Sending a text costs 70c and receiving a text is free.
- Mobile internet and mobile broadband costs €0.02 per MB when roaming while travelling by sea.
- Mobile internet and mobile broadband costs €0.25 per MB when roaming while travelling by air.

Vodafone World Roaming Data
Roaming data in Rest of World countries costs €5.00 a day for an allowance of data.
You get a 10 MB, 100 MB, 500 MB or 1 GB of data per day depending on the visited country - the first 1MB is always free.
At the start of each day (based on Irish time) as soon as you begin to use data you get a new daily allowance, the first MB is for free and then the €5.00 fee applies. Once the daily allowance is used per MB rates apply for any additional usage on that day.
These are our Standard roaming data rates, you do not need to do anything to avail of them and you are only charged on the days you use data in a Rest of World country.

Roaming Weekly Data Bundles
We have two weekly roaming data bundles available for use in the Rest of World region.
The Roam Tour weekly bundle provides 2.5 GB of data for €25.00 and can be used in 120 countries.
The Roam Extra weekly bundle provides 5 GB of data for €20.00 and can be used in 25 countries.
These are opt-in bundles that you can buy when needed.

- The weekly roaming bundles can be used for up to 8 days including the day of purchase. The bundle starts immediately following purchase and we recommend not to buy the bundle until the day you depart from Ireland or on arrival at your destination.
- The same weekly bundle can be used across multiple countries in the bundle footprint.
- Once you have used a weekly bundle allowance or if the bundle has expired the Standard Roaming data rates apply (see Global Explorer rates). If you prefer you can buy another weekly bundle.
- If you are on a top up offer it will re-activate every time you top up by €20* or more in one go. (*€30 on Extra Unlimited). To top-up for Roaming, we recommend topping up by €15 or less in one go. To ensure you have enough credit to buy a bundle you need to first top up by €15 and then do a second top up for €5 or €10 to increase your balance to €20 or €25.
- Customers on RED Roaming, visiting a RED Roaming country and with a weekly bundle will consume data from the RED Roaming allowance first and then from the weekly bundle.
- Note the weekly bundles cannot be used in our Europe region.

- The daily Air and Sea roaming bundles can be used for up to 24 hours from the time of purchase.
- The bundle starts immediately following purchase and we recommend not to buy the bundle until the day you depart from Ireland or on board your flight or ferry.
- The Air bundle is only available on some flights and is provided on the Aeromobile network.
- The Sea bundle is available only on ferries between Ireland and France, Ireland and UK and on the Mediterranean Sea. Services are provided on the Norway Maritime or Epic Malta networks.

Travelling outside Europe? Choose RED Roaming
Get unlimited calls and texts back to Ireland and to numbers within the country you’re visiting plus a daily allowance of data from €3.99 a day on unlimited plans or €2.99 a day on older plans.
You only pay for the days you use when abroad and you don’t have to opt back out when you get home.
If a customer is Roaming in a RED Roaming country and is opted into RED Roaming the RED Roaming daily fee and allowances applies instead of the standard Vodafone World Global Explorer data rate.
RED Roaming out of bundle rates apply when the RED Roaming daily data allowance is consumed. Â
