- Calls and texts - Check you are on the correct Pay as you go plan and ensure you haven't exceeded your allowance for calls and texts. For example, your plan may not include international minutes, and this will result in out-of-bundle charges
- Data charges - Check to see if you have gone over the allowance that you have in your pay as you go plan. If you are using your phone as a hotspot, make sure you are using the live.vodafone.com APN as this is the only one covered in your allowance
- Premium Texts - Keep an eye out for texts from 5-digit numbers that cost you money. You can sometimes get signed up to these unknowingly by entering certain competitions etc. You can visit the ComReg website and enter the 5-digit number to see how to unsubscribe and who the company is

5G on pay as you go FAQs
What is 5G?
Where is 5G available?
How can I get 5G on Pay as you go?
You need a 5G enabled plan and a 5G phone to connect to the Vodafone 5G network. Our 5G Pay as you go plans include:
You also need to be in an area that has 5G coverage. If you’re using a 5G compatible phone in an area that doesn’t have 5G coverage, your phone will automatically swap to 4G, 3G or 2G – depending on the signal that’s available. Your 5G phone will then automatically reconnect to the 5G network once you’re back in a 5G area.
Does 5G use more data?
5G delivers faster speeds and allows you to download and stream the same size movies, songs and more, as on 4G today, but quicker.
Our plans on pay as you go have allowances of 10GB up to Unlimited data, so there are plenty of options to choose from.
To change your plan log into My Vodafone through the My Vodafone app or on Vodafone.ie and select change top up offer. For any other assistance, please press the Chat button on this screen.
Can I roam with 5G on Pay as you go?
Yes you can roam with 5G on pay as you go. Under EU roaming regulations, Vodafone customers are entitled to bring their home tariff abroad when travelling in the EEA.
You can use your top up offer domestic minutes, texts and data allocation while roaming in the EEA in the same way you use the allowances domestically on our plans with a limited data allowance such as Chat Extra.
If you are on a Pay as you Go 5G unlimited data plan such as Extra Unlimited 5G our data allowance while roaming in the EEA will be subject to a fair usage policy of 30GB, and you will be charged at a rate of €0.002441 per MB thereafter.
Use of the allowance when roaming in the EEA is intended for periodic travel only, it isn’t meant for users roaming on a semi-permanent or permanent basis. For any other destination the monthly allocations cannot be used while roaming outside the EEA.
See our general terms and roaming terms on www.vodafone.ie/terms and our roaming page www.vodafone.ie/roaming for more information.
